A military or government agency security officer can grant Secret or Top Secret interim clearances while waiting for an investigation to close and be given final adjudication determination. By contrast, an industry security officer may grant Secret or Top Secret interim clearances only if the Consolidated Adjudications Facility, or CAF at the Vetting Risk Operations Center, or VRO posts a supporting Interim Eligibility Determination. Industry professionals are authorized to provide other access levels based on eligibility determination and available selections in DISS. Please note that Industry is not authorized to grant interim clearances for other special access levels, such as NATO. All security professionals are responsible for learning their individual agency or company policies and procedures.

  • Industry may grant interim S and TS only if the CAF (VRO) issues an Interim Eligibility Determination.
  • NOTE: Industry is authorized to provide other access levels based on eligibility determination and available selections in DISS.
